The second Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) concluded on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, with Indonesia securing 32 business deals worth over US$3.5 billion (Rp54.3 trillion).

The forum has strengthened ties between Indonesia and Africa, highlighting collaboration in various sectors including strategic industries, healthcare, and renewable energy.

Dewi Justicia Meidiwaty, Director for African Affairs at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted that the forum led to the signing of four strategic industry deals, nine healthcare sector agreements, and six renewable energy partnerships.

The IAF provided a platform for both state-owned and private companies, as well as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to explore business collaboration with African counterparts.

Sixteen agreements were made between Indonesian MSMEs and African companies during the two-day exhibition, which attracted visits from five African heads of state, underscoring the forum’s inclusive nature.

Additionally, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed between Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), focusing on development cooperation in Africa.

The forum strengthened economic ties between Indonesia and Africa, opening new avenues for growth and cooperation in both regions.
