French Minister of Foreign Trade Laurent Saint-Martin met with Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Application Meutya Hafid on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, , discussing progress update of the National Data Center (PDN-1).

The Cikarang National Data Center, Bekasi, which was built in 2022, was established with a G-to-G financing scheme or through assistance from the French Government. The government obtained a loan of €164,679,680 (Rp2.7 trillion).

The facility has been completed and the Provisional Hand Over (PHO) has been implemented.

Meutya said that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Application is working with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the Indonesian Military’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to ensure the protection and integrity of data managed at the National Data Center.

"The close relationship between the Indonesian and French governments, especially in the field of digital technology, is clear evidence of the commitment of both countries to support each other and encourage innovation, with solid collaboration," Meutya said on Wednesday.

She added that Indonesia hopes to explore more opportunities for cooperation with the French government, while ensuring that the benefits of technology and innovation can be felt by the people of both countries.

Similarly, Minister Laurent Saint-Martin praised the close Indonesia-France bilateral relationship.

"France and Indonesia have a strong history of building mutually beneficial relationships. We believe that cooperation in the digital field will strengthen the exchange of knowledge and innovation that can benefit the people of both countries," Saint-Martin said.
