The state insurance holding company Indonesia Financial Group (IFG) provides insurance protection for 23,093  homecoming participants ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2025, in the “Mudik Gratis Bersama BUMN” [Free Homecoming Trip with SOEs] program.

This program is an initiative of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) involving 83 SOE companies and their subsidiaries to ensure the safety and comfort of the travelers' journeys.

IFG Corporate Secretary, Denny S. Adji, said that the Eid homecoming trip has the potential to cause various risks, such as accidents, loss of goods, and vehicle damage. Therefore, IFG together with 10 members of its holding company provide insurance protection to reduce the impact of risks that may occur during the trip.

"It is very important for travelers to have protection to mitigate risks during the Eid homecoming moment," said Denny when releasing travelers at the Bung Karno Sports Hall, Jakarta, on Friday, March 28, 2025.

Ministry of Transportation has projected that 146.48 million people will take part in the annual mudik (homecoming) tradition in 2025, marking a significant increase in domestic travel as the Eid al-Fitr holiday approaches. The peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur on March 28, three days before Eid, which falls on March 31 this year.

The massive migration of people during mudik is a yearly phenomenon in Indonesia, where millions travel from major cities to their hometowns to celebrate Eid with their families. Authorities anticipate increased traffic on land, air, sea, and rail routes, requiring intensified coordination to ensure smooth and safe travel.

To manage the overwhelming number of travelers, the government is preparing special traffic regulations, additional transportation services, and safety measures. Infrastructure readiness, traffic management, and security enforcement will be key priorities during this period.

Additionally, various Ministry of SOEs are providing free homecoming program which is expected to ease the burden on public transportation and provide safer travel for thousands of participants.

The authorities urge travelers to plan their journeys carefully and utilize government-provided services to minimize congestion and ensure a safe and comfortable homecoming experience.
