Meutya V. Hafid, Minister of Communication and Digital Application (Komdigi), representing President Prabowo Subianto, is attending the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit (AIAS) Meeting in Paris, France on Monday, February 10-11, 2025.

AIAS is an international forum platform that started on Thursday, February 6, 2025. February 6-7 were themed Science Day; February 8-9 were Cultural Weekend; February 10 for Round Table Discussion and Head of State Banquet and February 11 for the Leaders Plenary and closing ceremony.

The event brings together representatives from more than 100 countries, including heads of state, ministers, company CEOs and heads of international organizations.

Collaboration between government, industry, academia and society is essential in creating optimal policies in the use and development of AI.

According to Meutya, AIAS aims to encourage discussion and real steps related to development and governance at the global level.

"The forum is also a continuation of the AI Safety Summit held in England in November 2023 and the AI Seoul Summit (AISS) in South Korea in May 2024," Meutya said on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

In addition to attending AIAS, Meutya will also speak on the "Readiness Assessment Method" methodology at a side event on Monday, February 10, 2025.

AI ecosystem opportunities

Indonesia is also increasingly open to opportunities to be involved in the global AI ecosystem.

Komdigi in its initial steps has initiated the AI Policy Dialogue which discusses the challenges and potential in various sectors such as e-commerce, banking, health, education, and sustainability.

Currently, Indonesia's e-commerce sector is projected to reach US$150 billion (Rp2,452 trillion) in 2030 and is expected to be ready to adopt AI to provide greater benefits for all parties.

Through proper regulation, Meutya is confident that Indonesia will become a major player in the global AI technology ecosystem.

Indonesia can also ensure that technological developments are in line with the needs and challenges faced by the world, including in terms of regulation and utilization through participation in the AIAS forum.
