President Prabowo Subianto has instructed State banks to streamline their board of commissioners, making them more concise and filled by professionals.
"The President's directive is that the number of commissioners [in State banks] be made more concise and filled with professionals," Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said after a limited Cabinet meeting chaired by the president on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
He said further that this instruction will later apply to all other State-owned banks.
Airlangga cited that the market responded positively to the reshuffle of directors and commissioners at several state-owned banks, such as Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and BNI, which occurred earlier this week.
Regarding the composition of the banks’ commissioners, Airlangga said that their number would still be adjusted to needs, through a more efficient structure than before.
"The composition is according to needs, but compared to the previous one, it was fatter. Now it is made more concise," he said.
