PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company, has announced plans to construct three new wind power plants (PLTB) − PLTB Timor, PLTB Tanah Laut, and PLTB Sulbagsel − by 2027 with a combined capacity of 152 MW.

PLTB Timor, slated for operationalization in 2025, will generate 22 MW. Meanwhile, PLTB Tanah Laut aims for a capacity of 70 MW by 2025, and PLTB Sulbagsel will contribute 60 MW and 70 MW upon completion in 2027.

Addressing a hearing with the House of Representatives Commission VII, PLN’s CEO Darmawan Prasodjo emphasized the company’s commitment to bolstering Indonesia’s renewable energy mix.

He highlighted plans for additional projects, including the Floating Solar Power Plants (PLTS) Saguling (60 MW), PLTS Karangkates (100 MW), and PLTS Singkarak (50 MW) expected to be operational by 2026.

“Moving forward, PLN will accelerate the development of all listed renewable energy projects outlined in the 2021–2030 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL),” Darmawan said.

PLN aims to achieve 20.9 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030, encompassing hydro, solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and other sources.

As of April 2024, PLN has processed 17.5 GW of renewable-based power generation, with 5 GW in funding stages, 7.8 GW in procurement, 3.46 GW under construction, and 1.1 GW already operational, while 3.6 GW is in planning.
