Major constructor firm PT Total Bangun Persada Tbk has secured a contract of about IDR 2.6 trillion and a capital expenditure (Capex) for 2023 worth IDR 3 billion for project equipment, IT tools and IT software.

Total has been in the construction service business for over 40 years. It was established in 1970 with the name PT Tjahja Rimba Kentjana Total in the field of materials and construction. The company was restructured and changed its name to PT Total Bangun Persada in 1981. The company was made public in 2006 and was listed on Jakarta Stock Exchange (IDX) with the symbol TOTL. Currently, the total ownership as of 2022, is PT Total Persada Development and Subsidiaries at 99%, PT Total Persada Indonesia at 99% and PT Total Pola Formwork at 60%. Janti Komandjaja has served as President and Director since 2009.

Contract and Capex

Total has managed to have a new contract procurement in 2023 of about IDR 2.6 trillion, a slight increase from its last contract in October 2022 of IDR 2.2 trillion. The projects in October 2022 included mixed-use, office, education, hotel, shopping center and industrial buildings.

Total Corporate Secretary Anggie R.V. Sanusi Sidharta said the company aimed to contract procurement in 2023. It also seeks a revenue worth IDR 2.3 trillion, a net profit of IDR 95 billion and a Capex for 2023 at IDR 3 billion.

For now, Total has realized over IDR 4 billion of the total allocated budget of IDR 3 trillion. The value of the project is currently being counted at IDR 10 trillion, which is mainly dominated by private projects.

“The management is going through the process of tender to receive new projects but the decision is not yet taken. The value of the contract is for estimation, and the end value can still vary,” Sidharta said.

The company also takes interest in Indonesia’s new capital (IKN) of Nusantara.

Total Director Moeljati Soetrisno explained that the company was also looking at opportunities at Nusantara.

“Now the IKN is still in the infrastructure construction phase, that is not part of our expertise. But later, if there are buildings to support the IKN, whether it is privately owned or by the government, we will participate. Developers are still heading toward that part after infrastructures are finished,” Soetrisno said.

Infrastructure problems in Indonesia

There are several problems that reside in Indonesia’s infrastructure development such as the high disparity between regions economically. This can be looked at in the sector of the economy, infrastructure development and the poverty level.

According to Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, nowadays PUPR has developed many infrastructure projects but with many construction problems. Yet, it is because Indonesia requires handling with different technologies.
