The Directorate of General Crimes Investigation at the Jakarta Police Headquarters has named 22 suspects in a major online gambling case, which implicates officials from the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi).

“A total of 22 individuals have been detained in connection with this case,” Head of the Directorate of General Crimes Investigation at the Jakarta Police Headquarters,  Senior Commissioner Wira Satya Triputra, told a media conference in Jakarta on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Three individuals previously listed as fugitives − identified by their initials B, BK, and HF − were apprehended the same day.

Wira said that these suspects, along with another arrested suspect, HE, served as key operators and owners of thousands of gambling websites designed to evade Komdigi’s blocking mechanisms.

HE was arrested earlier and has been identified as the owner and operator of a prominent gambling website named Keris123.

This case highlights the involvement of corrupt officials in facilitating online gambling operations. The Jakarta Police Headquarters has vowed to continue its efforts to dismantle the broader network while ensuring accountability among those implicated.
