A number of Indonesian startups again stole international attention by achieving great success − bringing home nine awards − at the ASEAN Digital Awards 2025, held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The ASEAN Digital Awards, formerly known as the ASEAN ICT Awards (AICTA), recognizes organizations, businesses and individuals who have pioneered innovative products or services that have made significant contributions to the digital landscape in Southeast Asia. Last year, Indonesia won five awards.

There were 18 awards up for grabs at the event, with Indonesia winning 9 awards including 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. Most of the award winners are startup partners of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Application (Komdigi) who participated in the digital mentoring program.

“This proves that the Indonesian startup ecosystem is not only growing rapidly, but also able to compete at the international level. We are very proud of the hard work of startup players who have brought honor to the nation,” Meutya V. Hafid, Minister of Communication and Digital Application, said on Friday, January 17, 2025.

Eko K. Budiardjo, Computer Science Professor at the University of Indonesia, appreciated this achievement. According to him, this victory shows that Indonesia’s digital innovation has reached a very competitive level.

Most of these startups are fostered by Komdigi, which is committed to continuing to encourage the growth of the Indonesian startup ecosystem through strategic programs and mentoring.

Meutya hopes that this success will motivate other startups to continue innovating and make Indonesia shine even brighter on the global stage.
