JAKARTA – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo launched Government Technology (GovTech) digital application called ‘INA Digital’ in Jakarta on Monday, May 27, 2024.

GovTech is an institution tasked with driving the integration of government digital services that have been spread across thousands of platforms/applications.

In his remarks, President Jokowi emphasized the importance of integrating various government digital applications and services into public service portals and government administration portals to improve the quality of services to the public.

He cited that there are 27,000 applications within the government, from the center to the regions, that need to be integrated.

“To improve Indonesia’s competitiveness, we must strengthen Digital Public Infrastructure, a kind of ‘toll road’ for digitization of public services. We must also strengthen GovTech transformation, which we call INA Digital,” President Jokowi said while addressing the Electronic Based Government System (SPBE) Summit 2024 at the State Palace.

On the occasion, President Jokowi launched GovTech Indonesia, named INA Digital, as the organizer of an integrated ecosystem of government digital services to realize higher quality, trusted and efficient public services. He said that the birth of INA Digital is the first step in accelerating transformation of Indonesia’s government digital services.

“Every ministry, institution, and local government must jointly integrate and interoperate applications and data. You can no longer feel that the data you have is your own. The country will not progress if it is still like that. Leave the old practices and mindset,” the President continued.

Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform, Abdullah Azwar Anas, emphasized that after the launch of INA Digital, the integration of government digital services will be accelerated.

“Several priority services will be integrated into one public service portal that will be launched in September 2024. Priority services to be integrated include education, health, social assistance, digital payments, digital identity, online driving licences, crowd permits, and state apparatus services,” he said.

“The process should no longer be complicated even though it uses technology. This is where the importance of service interoperability, which requires data exchange. INA Digital is tasked with integrating these services,” he added.

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Erick Tohir, said that the appointment of State-owned securities paper and bill printing company PERURI to run INA Digital was based on a strong digital portfolio, as evidenced by the various digital government services that had previously been their flagship product. Therefore, the assignment is the right choice, because it can later encourage the competitiveness of SOEs in the digital sector.

“This launch is the first step for us to continue working hard for the next few months to be able to dream and do that government public services to the community are real. So it’s not just a slogan, but something that can be implemented,” Erick said.

In the initial stage, INA Digital collaborates with nine ministries/agencies to support the development, integration and interoperability of Priority SPBE applications, including the education, health, social, population administration integrated with Digital Population Identity, state financial transactions, state apparatus, Public Service Portal, One Data Indonesia, and police sectors. The nine priority sectors were directly selected by President Joko Widodo to accelerate their integration based on the readiness of plans, infrastructure, and the existence of their use.
