The Indonesian Ministry of Trade has announced that the export permit relaxation for certain types of raw mineral commodities will be extended until the end of 2024.
This relaxation is intended to give mining companies the opportunity to complete their processing and refining plant (smelter) projects.
Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan emphasized that these permits would be finalized by next week.
“It will be done by next Monday. I don’t remember the exact number, but it will be done,” Zulkifli said on Friday, May 31, 2024.
It should be noted that the government has granted this relaxation to five companies: PT Amman Mineral and PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) for copper concentrate, PT Sebuku Iron Lateritic Ores for iron mineral refining, PT Kapuas Prima Citra for lead, and PT Kobar Lamandau Mineral for zinc.
“The extension of permits expiring on May 31 is not an issue; it will continue until December 31,” Budi Santoso, Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade, separately said.
