A recent survey by Katadata Insight Center (KIC) reveals that former Jakarta Governors Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama and Anies Rasyid Baswedan are the leading candidates for the Jakarta governorship position for the 2024-2029 term.
The survey was conducted on May 3-9, 2024, involving 1,054 respondents using the Survey data collection platform and Telkomsel’s telco data insight capabilities. The survey has a margin of error of 1.1 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.

Satria Triputra Wisnumurti, Survey Manager at KIC, said that the findings reflect the respondents’ satisfaction with the performance of governors and former governors.
Titi Anggraini, an Advisory Board member of the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem), linked Ahok’s high rating to his track record and continued visibility in Indonesian politics.
The survey indicates that performance and track record are the main factors for most respondents when choosing a gubernatorial candidate. Personal attributes such as honesty and experience are also significant considerations for voters.
Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Anies Rasyid Baswedan remain the most favored candidates to lead Jakarta, with primary considerations being their performance, track record, and personal qualities such as honesty and experience.
The survey result shows that Jakarta residents have a strong preference for candidates with proven leadership abilities.
