Prabowo discusses defense industry development with Slovak Ambassador

Jakarta − Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with Slovak Ambassador Tomas Ferko in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, discussing potential collaboration in defense between both countries.

Both Indonesia and Slovakia have common interests in the field of defense. Slovakia is one of the countries that has good quality technology and defense industry in Europe with NATO standards that it could be an alternative for Indonesia in the procurement and maintenance of defense equipment as well as development of the defense industry.

Prabowo stressed the importance of procurement and maintenance of defense equipment, as well as the development of the defense industry, for Indonesia.

“The development of the defense industry is a major and important part of ensuring the readiness and strength of national defense,” Prabowo said.

He, therefore, emphasized that productive collaboration between Indonesia and Slovakia is essential.

“We want to always have a harmonious and mutually beneficial bilateral defense relationship with Slovakia, especially in involving Indonesia’s domestic defense industry,” Prabowo concluded.
