Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani says that he will immediately follow up on the US$8.5 billion investment commitments from 10 British companies as a result of President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the UK on November 21-22, 2024.

“We will continue the implementation of these commitments quickly. We will talk openly some of the obstacles that we must resolve,” Rosan said after the CEO Roundtable Forum 2024 in London as quoted in a statement on Monday, November 25, 2024.

On the same occasion, Rosan conveyed the reason behind investors’ enthusiasm to invest in Indonesia.

“Their interest is inseparable from stable Indonesian political conditions. They also appreciate the peaceful transition of government. This has increased the confidence of investors,” Rosan said.

During the forum, according to Rosan, President Prabowo also revealed the government’s focus on providing affordable housing at an efficient cost, supported by transparent and conflict-of-interest-free governance.

“So, how to build 3 million houses every year within the next 10 years. Surely that is an opportunity for investors to invest,” Rosan said.

In a previous press statement, President Prabowo emphasized that global confidence in Indonesia continues to increase, as seen from previous visits to Brazil, the United States, and China. In addition, the government’s commitment to clean and efficient governance is also one of the main attractions for investors.

Some of the things discussed in the CEO Roundtable Forum 2024 included the government’s priority infrastructure projects, especially those that support the energy security and food security sectors, the energy transition initiative program to reduce carbon emissions in Indonesia, and the expansion of access and quality of affordable health services.

The forum participants included Britcham Indonesia, Babcock International Group, BAE Systems, Thales UK, British Petroleum (BP), Standard Chartered, HSBC, AstraZeneca, Jardine Matheson, John Swire & Sons Ltd, Unilever, Mott Macdonald, Arup, Harbour Energy, Airbus, Prudential, King’s College London, and Lancaster University.
