Singapore − Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Singapore on Saturday, June 1, 2024, discussing measures to enhance bilateral defense cooperation and addressing pressing global issues.
“Warm greetings and appreciation to the President of Ukraine for initiating today’s meeting, especially to discuss defence issues,” Prabowo said.
Amid global and regional security challenges, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining international peace and security amid a number of conflicts and threats of terrorism. Both countries agreed on the need to conduct peaceful dialogue and solutions through diplomatic efforts.
Humanitarian issues, particularly the situation in Gaza, were also discussed in the meeting, where Indonesia and Ukraine both emphasized the urgency of providing humanitarian assistance and ensuring access to affected populations in conflict zones.
Both countries also opened up opportunities to collaborate in the defense industry sector through technology transfer.
At the end of the meeting Prabowo stated Indonesia’s commitment to building a strong and mutually beneficial defense relationship with Ukraine.
