Prabowo inspects progress of presidential palace construction in IKN

Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, visited the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, on Monday, to witness the construction progress of the country’s future capital city.

“Today I came to see the spatial development progress of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan,” Prabowo wrote on his Instagram account on Monday, March 18, 2024.

In the shared photos, Prabowo was seen meeting with several construction workers in IKN and inspecting the construction of the Presidential Palace. He was accompanied Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure of the IKN Authority Silvia Halim, along with representatives from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.

In his closing remarks, Prabowo also shared a picture of himself monitoring the progress of IKN construction from the air.

Earlier, Head of the Infrastructure Development Task Force for IKN, Danis H. Sumadilaga, said  that as of March 7, 2024, the construction progress of the Presidential Palace and the Parade Ground of IKN had reached 58.85 percent. The Presidential Palace, parade ground, and podium are targeted to be fully operational by June 2024. “So that they can be used to support the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony on August 17, 2024, which can accommodate 8,700 people as planned,” Danis said during the Nusantara Capital City Coordination Meeting in Jakarta on March 14, 2024.

Meanwhile, the construction progress of the presidential office building is currently at 78.68 percent. The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has targeted that the presidential office building along with the Garuda emblem will be installed by June 2024. As for the construction of the Presidential Secretariat building and its supporting buildings, the progress has reached 69.68 percent.
