Erick Thohir, Minister of State-owned Enterprises (SOEs), is ready to pay SOE dividends to the state. The amount according to Thohir, reaches up to IDR 80.2 trillion (US$ 5.5 billion), which is the largest in Indonesian history. Meanwhile, the consolidated net profit of SOEs is predicted to reach IDR 303.7 trillion. However, there is no exact date as to when the dividends will be disbursed.

“Yesterday we had a meeting with President of the Republic of Indonesia Pak Jokowi, and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani. As a result of our [BUMN] work last year, this year we will provide the largest dividend in the history of SOEs to the state of IDR 80.2 trillion,” said Thohir on May 1, 2023.

Thohir stated that the dividend is a form of SOE’s contribution to the state, so that the state does not only get income from taxes but also good business results. The dividends obtained will be used for community programs from the government such as social assistance.

Thohir previously estimated that BUMN’s consolidated net profit would reach IDR 303.7 trillion (unaudited) in 2022. There is a possibility of a significant increase in profits of IDR 179 trillion. In addition, there is an increase in assets from IDR 8,978 trillion in 2021 to IDR 9,867 trillion (unaudited) in 2022. Further, there is an increase in equity from IDR 2,778 trillion in 2021 to IDR 3,150 trillion (unaudited) in 2022. Meanwhile, revenue has increased from IDR 2,292 trillion in 2021 to IDR 2,613 trillion (unaudited) in 2022.

Nasim Khan, Member of Commission VI of the DPR RI, appreciated Thohir’s performance, which has provided contribution to the state. “We express our highest appreciation for the performance of companies under the Ministry of SOEs in 2022 which have paid dividends to the State of IDR 80.2 trillion from the target of 34 trillion, where the 2022 dividend is the largest in the history of SOEs,” said Khan on May 1, 2023.

Previously in 2021, SOEs managed to pay dividends of IDR 30.49 trillion to the state. According to the Audit Results Report on the 2021 Central Government Financial Statements released by the Financial Audit Agency in May 2022, the 10 highest contributors to SOE dividend in 2021 are.
