The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is set to construct 11 Integrated Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in 2024, utilizing funds amounting to IDR 99 billion. This development is part of the 2024 budget allocation totaling IDR 6.8 trillion, with a focus on enhancing energy access for communities.

Arifin Tasrif, the Minister of ESDM, stated that the construction of these 11 integrated solar power plants is included in the 2024 budget, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to strengthening energy infrastructure for the public.

He urged budget users within the ministry to initiate tenders by the end of 2023, particularly for significant programs that bring substantial benefits to the public. Minister Arifin emphasized the importance of completing projects promptly to ensure budget absorption and the swift utilization of infrastructure for the broader community.

In addition to the integrated solar power plants, the Ministry of ESDM has earmarked budget allocations for various community-focused infrastructure projects, including:

  • Construction of the Cirebon-Semarang Gas Pipeline Phase II Batang-Cirebon, valued at IDR 973.7 billion;
  • Distribution of 15,000 Converter Kits (Konkit) for fishermen, costing IDR 156 billion;
  • Distribution of 19,000 Konkits for farmers, with a value of IDR 158 billion;
  • Assistance for New Electricity Connections (BPBL) to provide 80,000 household connections, totaling IDR 205 billion.

Furthermore, the budget includes allocations for strengthening geological disaster mitigation systems, rehabilitation of volcano observation posts, and the construction of 5 Micro Hydro Power Plants (PLTMH).

The Indonesian government aims to add approximately 40,600 megawatts (MW) of electricity generation capacity from 2021 to 2030. This projection is outlined in the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2021-2030 by the state-owned electricity company, PLN.

The additional capacity is expected to come from PLN-owned power plants, private/independent power producers (IPPs), and collaborations between PLN and other entities, with the largest planned capacity increase in steam power plants (PLTU).
