PT MRT Jakarta sealed on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, a partnership agreement with Sojitz Corporation for the Phase 2A construction of railway tracks and signaling systems from the Hotel Indonesia turnabout  to Kota, valued at IDR 4.7 trillion (about US$ 290 million).

Tuhiyat, CEO of MRT Jakarta, revealed that the project tender had faced three failures since 2020. The first tender failed due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020-2021, the second due to the Russia-Ukraine war, and the third due to geopolitical tensions between the United States and China.

“These events disrupted the global supply chain, and Japan has collaborations with various raw material suppliers,” Tuhiyat told the media at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout MRT Station on Wednesday.

He said that the construction tender for the railway tracks and signaling systems for Phase 2A had been ongoing since 2023 and concluded on February 20, 2024. The tender utilized the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) scheme.

“The journey of MRT Jakarta in finding contractors for the railway track and signaling works has been a long one,” Tuhiyat remarked.

He cited that the construction project would span 75 months until the end of 2029, aligning with the overall completion timeline of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A construction.

Simultaneously, Tuhiyat projected the completion of Phase 2A construction up to the MRT Jakarta Monas Station by 2027. He noted that the construction progress from Hotel Indonesia roundabout MRT Station to Monas MRT Station had reached 74 percent.
