Clinical laboratory chain PT Prodia Widyahusada Tbk is focusing on technological advances as it has successfully implemented digitalization in coincide with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic since early March 2000.
The company is currently engaged in improving and implementing digitalization at a faster pace due to the pandemic.
Andri Hidayat, Prodia’s Director of Digital Services & Information Technology Transformation, explained: “We had already prepared a digital strategy even before the pandemic began. Some of these digital strategies are accelerated faster than planned, so our focus is on accelerating the implementation of the ID blueprint and digital strategies.”
The chain’s Director of Business and Marketing Indriyanti Rafi Sukmawati said that digitalization was the main focus due to the pandemic. “The increase of digital revenue is increasing. Therefore, we continue to focus on digital services. We are already 50% online,” she said.
In 2022, Prodia sets its capital expenditure (Capex) for IDR250 billion to focus on customer service, while the capital was gained from internal sources.
Director of Finance Liana Kuswandi said: “For this year’s Capex plan, we have budgeted IDR200 billion-IDR250 billion and the funds are from our own operations. Around 55% is aimed at improving our customer services.”
Established in 1973, Prodia is currently available in all provinces in Indonesia and is now focusing to expand its business in Papua to further increase its foothold.
President Director Dewi Muliaty said the company had already opened two branches in Indonesia’s eastern most province. “In Papua, we have two branches in West Papua and Papua, respectively.”
In 2021, the company’s net income increased by IDR2,652.26 billion or 41.58% from the previous year in 2020 of IDR1,873.38 billion.
Muliaty said: “Last year was an extraordinary achievement, very high. It was Prodia’s highest achievement during its 48 years of service.”
Around 6.1 million Indonesians have been infected with COVID-19 during the pandemic, with 157,000 died from the illness. In total, there are 552 million cases worldwide while the number of fatalities reached 6.34 million.
