National coal production reaches 195 million tons as of Idul Fitri

National coal production this year has reached 195.74 million tons as of Idul Fitri, data from the Minerba One Data Indonesia (MODI) website of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Meanwhile, export realization since the beginning of the year has reached 97.16 million tons. As for the domestic market obligation (DMO) allocation plan, there is still no recorded realization in MODI website.

Furthermore, coal sales realization for domestic market is recorded at 85.89 million tons. Last year, national coal production reached 775 million tons. This figure exceeded the 2023 production target set at 695 million tons and is the highest record in several decades.

The Ministry of ESDM had previously approved 587 applications for work plans and budgets (RKAB) in the coal sector.

Acting Director General of Minerals and Coal (Minerba) Bambang Suswantono said that the approval was the result of screening from 883 applications received by the Ministry of ESDM.

“We submitted a recap of RKAB for coal for 2024-2026 dated March 18, 2024. There were 883 applications, and 587 were approved,” Bambang told a hearing with the House of Representatives’ Commission VII on March 19, 2024.

Out of the 587 approved RKAB applications, Bambang revealed that the coal production plan for the next 3 years is around 900 million tons.

“The total coal tonnage for 2024 is 922.14 million tons, for 2025 it is 917.16 million tons, and for 2026 it is 902.97 million tons,” he explained.
