President Prabowo Subianto welcomes American software and fabless company NVIDIA to get involved in the development of Indonesia’s computer-generated technology and application system for the sake of the nation’s future best.

“We want NVIDIA to be an important participant in our future. I recognize the tremendous influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and all its possibilities, especially in agriculture and health,” Prabowo spoke in a telephone conversation with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Jensen was in Jakarta to address the Indonesia AI Day 2024 event, which also featured Indonesian Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir.

Prabowo said further that he wanted the establishment of strengthened cooperation between Indonesia and NVIDIA in AI development and hoped to meet Jensen Huang in person to further discuss this collaboration opportunity.

In response, Jensen Huang told Prabowo that NVIDIA already had many partners in Indonesia, including telecommunication company Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, data center provider BDx, and multinational professional services company Accenture, to encourage innovation in the AI field.

“We are committed to working with partners in Indonesia to accelerate the adoption of AI and develop a technology ecosystem in Indonesia,” Jensen said.

According to him, AI is the future that will be integrated into various sectors of people’s lives. NVIDIA is expected to help Indonesia accelerate digital transformation through artificial intelligence, bringing direct benefits to the community and vital sectors in Indonesia.

The atmosphere of the panel session, which was moderated by CEO of GoTo Group Patrick Walujo and featuring Jensen Huang, was suddenly amazed when the smartphone belonging to Patrick rang. It turned out that the telephone call was from President Prabowo Subianto, who was on a State visit to Peru.

Patrick had earlier told the audience, Jensen Huang, and Erick Thohir that he had to bring his smartphone along because he was waiting for an important call from the President. It was Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, who had earlier alerted Jensen Huang of the President’s intention to give him a call.

The phone conversation lasted for several minutes, exhibiting the commitment of both the Indonesian president and the NVIDIA CEO to strengthen the AI technology ecosystem in Indonesia.
