Prabowo-Gibran sworn in, promises a fair and just leadership

Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were inaugurated as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period in a ceremony held at the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR)/House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

“By Allah, I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the President of the Republic of Indonesia as well as possible and as fairly as possible, uphold the Constitution and implement all laws and regulations as honestly as possible and serve the Nation and Country,” Prabowo said while having his oath taken in the ceremony.

Prabowo and Gibran took the oath which was carried out in a plenary session of the MPR attended by 709 of the 731 MPR members and led by Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the MPR.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by leaders and delegation members from friendly countries who were immediately greeted by Prabowo upon their arrival before the ceremony began.

Pair of Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar were spotted to be among the attendees. Meanwhile, the other pair of candidates Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD were absent.

After the inauguration, Prabowo delivered his first speech as President of the Republic of Indonesia.
