Green Energy Developer, Utomodeck Group, has announced its expansion into the Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) industry, as part of its commitment to supporting the national energy transition.
In this project, Utomo SolaRUV, Utomodeck Group’s renewable energy business line, has collaborated with Sungrow Floating PV, a global leader in the Tier-1 Floating Solar Power Plant industry.
The signing of the collaboration was held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Utomodeck Group head office in Surabaya by Utomo SolaRUV Managing Director Anthony Utomo and Director of PT Sungrow Floating Batam, Arnold Layuk Mairi.
Anthony emphasized that this collaboration is oriented towards increasing the Local Contents (TKDN) in the Floating Solar Power Plant industry.
“Through this collaboration, Utomo SolaRUV is determined to comply with the Floating PLTS components with TKDN to support the development of Floating PLTS in Indonesia. This step is not only to achieve the national New and Renewable Energy (EBT) mix target, but also to show that Indonesia is competitive in mastering Floating PLTS technology globally,” he said.
Currently, Utomo SolaRUV has operated a Floating PLTS solar module and floater factory in Batam, with a production capacity of 1 Gigawatt Peak (GWp). UtomoSolaRUV has opened two Floating PLTS production facilities in Batam and Surabaya, which will focus on the development and manufacturing of the main components of Floating PLTS, both for the domestic and export markets.
“This collaboration is not just a business partnership, but also a technology transfer and improvement of domestic capabilities in the Floating PLTS sector. With the support of world-class technology partners, we can accelerate innovation and build a sustainable Floating Solar Power industry ecosystem in Indonesia,” Arnold of PT Sungrow Floating Batam said.
Utomodeck Group’s expansion into the Floating Solar Power sector is in line with government policy in strengthening national energy security. President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of synergy of work programs and downstreaming of renewable energy commodities, to ensure that Indonesia is independent in the energy sector amidst global uncertainty.
“Indonesia should not only be a consumer of Floating Solar Power technology, but must also be a major player in this industry, the green energy sector, this expansion is also expected to create new jobs for local workers,” Arnold said.
