The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating corruption allegations in State-owned gas distribution company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) over gas trading transactions with PT Isargas/Inti Alasindo Energi (IAE) from 2017 to 2021.

The investigation focuses on the nature of the cooperation between PGN and Isargas/IAE.

KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardika Sugiarto said that three witnesses were questioned, namely Adi Munandir (current PGN employee), Heri Yusuf (former PGN employee), and Nur Harjanto (private sector representative). The KPK has not disclosed further details from these examinations.

On May 13, 2024, KPK announced the beginning of an investigation into the suspected corruption activities within PGN for the fiscal years 2018 to 2020.

This investigation follows an audit conducted by Indonesia’s Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), which identified significant financial losses to the state.

KPK spokesman, Ali Fikri, said that the alleged corruption has caused financial losses amounting to hundreds of billions of rupiah.

“The exact amount will be determined during the investigation, but it is certainly in the hundreds of billions,” Fikri noted.

The investigation concerns gas trading transactions between PGN and a company identified as PT IG during a period of 2018 − 2020.

The KPK has imposed travel bans on two individuals related to the case: one is a government official and another a private sector representative.
