PT Bank Central Asia (BCA), a company under the Djarum Group, is reportedly planning to invest in the construction of a financial center in the Nusantara Capital (IKN).
Agung Wicaksono, Deputy for Funding and Investment at the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), said the financial center, a specific project by the Djarum Group for BCA, will commence groundbreaking simultaneously with the construction of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) office in IKN.
“This is by the Djarum Group, specifically BCA. As I mentioned earlier, first there will the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS). Next, there will be the OJK, so I think the banks, including BCA, will enter simultaneously or after the OJK,” Agung told a media briefing on Tuesday, January 6, 2024.
Agung emphasized that the presence of regulators in the financial sector in the IKN area needs to be prioritized before various financial service industries enter the IKN. Therefore, after the groundbreaking by OJK, several banks, including BCA and PT Bank Mandiri (BMRI), are expected to initiate construction in IKN.
Previously, Hera F. Haryn, Executive Vice President Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility at BCA, said the bank is currently coordinating with various stakeholders ahead of the groundbreaking in IKN.
“Regarding the branch network in IKN, in principle, we always coordinate with all stakeholders, including the government, authorities, and banking regulators,” Hera told Bisnis.com.
She declined to provide details about the amount of BCA’s investment in IKN, but assured that BCA is committed to providing quality services and an optimal banking ecosystem.
