The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) has completed the calculation of state losses in the alleged corruption case related to the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the Maurel & Prom acquisition by Pertamina.
From these two cases, the state incurred a total loss of IDR 2.7 trillion. This consists of a loss of IDR 1.77 trillion in LNG procurement and a loss of IDR 937.73 billion in the Maurel & Prom acquisition.
BPK handed over the Investigation Examination Results Report (LHP PI) and the State Loss Calculation (PKN) to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the BPK office in Jakarta on January 15, 2024.
BPK conducted investigative examinations and calculations of Pertamina’s losses based on a request from the KPK. The examination concluded with indications of criminal acts by related parties in the Corpus Christi Liquefaction LLC LNG procurement process.
“This procurement resulted in financial losses to Pertamina amounting to USD 113.83 million,” said BPK on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
The value of the loss of USD 113.83 million is equivalent to IDR 1.77 trillion, based on the exchange rate of IDR 15,628 per US dollar.
Additionally, BPK handed over the results of the investigative examination of the Maurel & Prom (M&P) company’s acquisition by Pertamina through PT Pertamina Internasional Eksplorasi dan Produksi (PIEP) from 2012 to 2020.
BPK concluded that there were indications of criminal acts by related parties in the investment activities, leading to a state loss of USD 60 million (IDR 938 billion).
The report was handed over by BPK Deputy Chairman Hendra Susanto to KPK Chairman Nawawi Pomolango. Hendra expressed hope that the report would be optimally utilized in the prosecution and trial process.
“This report can also be used for further processing of cases related to the investigation stage,” said Hendra.
The report handover was attended by BPK Chairman Isma Yatun, BPK Member I Nyoman Adhi Suryadnyana, KPK Vice Chairman Alexander Marwata, as well as BPK Investigation Expert Tortama and KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution.
