The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) has joined forces with TIS Petroleum E&P Blora Pte. Ltd., a contract partner, to complete the Early Production Facility (EPF) project in the RBG Block-I within the Blora Working Area, East Java.
This milestone achievement, highlighted by Hudi D. Suryodipuro, Head of the Program and Communication Division at SKK Migas, holds immense significance as it optimizes gas reserves with a notable carbon dioxide (CO2) content of 30 percent.
Successful commercialization of gas with substantial CO2 content has ignited optimism among industry stakeholders, with Hudi expressing confidence in replicating such successes across other fields. The gas commissioning process for buyers was successfully concluded on December 12, 2023, followed by the condensate process on December 23, 2023.
Currently, the RBG Block-I field is yielding a daily production of 4 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas and 35 barrels of condensate per day (bcpd). Hudi noted that several other gas fields with elevated CO2 content remain untapped, presenting opportunities for future endeavors.
Emphasizing the company’s dedication, Hudi stated, “We plan to assure investors that there’s no need to worry. We have experience in commercializing these gases, making them acceptable to buyers in the future.”
Revealing the substantial investment involved, Hudi disclosed that the EPF RBG Block – I project incurred costs amounting to US$ 7.2 million, equivalent to approximately Rp112 billion. This comprehensive investment covered EPF rental costs, installation of custody meter packages, as well as re-entry and completion activities for the RBG-3 well.
Hudi expressed hope that beyond boosting national gas production, this investment would yield multiplier effects, fostering growth in the upstream oil and gas industry.
