PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk. (PGN), in collaboration with PT Pertagas Niaga (PTGN) and PT Pema Global Energi (PGE), recently inked a pivotal Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda, an industrial entity in Aceh, and other industries in North Sumatra.

Under this agreement, PGE, serving as the seller, will provide a maximum of 45 billion British thermal units per day (BBtud) of natural gas to PGN and PTGN. The GSPA was officially signed on Thursday, December 7, 2023, by Rosa Permata Sari, Director of Strategy and Business Development at PGN, and Directors Anis Haryono and Eppy Gustiawan from PGE, along with Aminuddin, President Director of PTGN.

This momentous event was witnessed by M. Akbarul Syah Alam, Head of the Oil and Gas Monetization Division at BPMA.

The gas supply, originating from Working Area (WK) B, where PGE serves as the contractor and operator, aligns seamlessly with the recommendation of the Aceh Oil and Gas Management Agency (BPMA). This designation positions PGE as the state’s natural gas seller from WK B, in strict accordance with government regulations governing the joint management of oil and gas resources in Aceh.

Rosa Permata Sari, in a press release on Sunday (10/12/2023), expressed optimism about the agreement’s potential to ensure consistent gas distribution in the Aceh and North Sumatra regions.

Additionally, she emphasized its role as a stimulus, particularly for Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM), supporting production processes and industries in the said regions.

Highlighting the comprehensive nature of the GSPA, Rosa noted that the agreement incorporates gas pricing for specific industries, in line with Ministerial Decree No. 134K/2021 and Ministerial Decree No. 91K/2023.

She underscored that this pricing structure is poised to significantly contribute to the productivity and competitiveness of the beneficiary industries. “The commitment of PGN, PTGN, and PGE is jointly aimed at enhancing the utilization of domestic natural gas,” Rosa stated.

Both PGN and PTGN are optimistic about the optimal absorption of gas allocation from WK B in the future. Beyond the benefits to their respective oil and gas businesses and consumers, this collaboration also ensures the safeguarding of the country’s revenue from the upstream oil and gas sector.
