Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), Erick Thohir, is set to launch Indonesia Incorporated (Inc). This reflects the commitment from the beginning to continuously drive state-owned enterprises to go global.

Joint office for State-Owned Enterprises

Indonesia Inc will be realized through the inauguration of a joint office for SOEs located within the premises of the BNI Branch in Hong Kong, at the Far East Finance Center, 16 Harcourt Rd, Admiralty, Hong Kong, on Friday (30/6).

“I happen to have a task here, and tomorrow we plan to inaugurate a joint office, which is an idea that was conceived two years ago to streamline and save costs by integrating SOE offices,” said Erick after performing Eid al-Adha prayer at the Indian Recreation Club, 63 Caroline Hill Road, Hong Kong, on Thursday (29/6).

Erick stated that the establishment of a shared building is a breakthrough in strengthening the competitiveness of SOEs in the global market. Thus, SOEs can synergize with each other in introducing and expanding Indonesia’s market access on the international stage.

“One of the successful examples in Hong Kong is that several SOE offices can share facilities. We shouldn’t work in isolation; instead, multiple SOE offices can collaborate. This is part of the unity among SOEs,” he said.

Business center and hub

In the future, this shared office will function as a business center and hub for surrounding countries. Specifically, the joint office of SOEs in Hong Kong will serve as a business hub for China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Erick expressed that his working visit to Hong Kong left a profound impression on him. Moreover, he had the opportunity to perform Eid al-Adha prayer alongside Indonesian citizens residing in Hong Kong.

“Today, I had the opportunity to perform the Eid prayer with Indonesian compatriots in Hong Kong, as well as conducting a working visit. The level of tolerance here is truly remarkable. Alhamdulillah, we were able to worship comfortably,” he said.
