President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who is set to govern the country from 2024 to 2029 alongside Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is considering to recruit several alumni of the Defense Ministry-run Taruna Nusantara High School as his Cabinet members.

“I have identified two, three, or even four Taruna Nusantara alumni who are likely to become ministers in the upcoming cabinet,” Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Prabowo’s brother and Vice Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Advisory Board, said on the sidelines of the National Dialogue on Human Resource Development on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Though Hashim refrained from disclosing specific names, Gerindra Party Secretary-General Ahmad Muzani confirmed that the cabinet selection process is ongoing.

He mentioned that several candidates, including those from coalition parties and Taruna Nusantara, are being vetted and engaged in discussions.

Prabowo, a former military officer, has maintained close ties with the alumni of Taruna Nusantara, a school that has produced notable leaders beyond the military sphere.

Among the candidates who may join the new administration are Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Sudaryono, Sugiono, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, Prasetyo Hadi, and Rachmat Kaimuddin, all of whom have close connections to Prabowo and hold significant roles in politics, business, and governance.

The new cabinet is expected to reflect Prabowo’s commitment to bolstering Indonesia’s defense, economic, and environmental sectors, as he and Gibran prepare to take office on October 20, 2024, succeeding President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
