PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina, continues to pursue sustainable business ventures in developing clean energy in Indonesia.

PGE takes business steps with Japan

After receiving positive responses from foreign investors during the issuance of green bonds, the top executives of Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) are now exploring partnerships with several Japanese companies.

This business initiative was marked by PGE’s presence at the Indonesia-Japan Corporations Exclusive Business Matching Event held in Tokyo, Japan on May 22, 2023.

Ahmad Yuniarto, the President Director of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk, stated that the event was significant in creating opportunities for collaboration between Japanese and Indonesian companies to foster positive synergies for both parties.

“The presence of PGE at the Business Matching forum organized by the Indonesian Stock Exchange Authority signifies that the endeavors we are developing have significant market potential in the eyes of foreign investors,” Ahmad said on May 25, 2023.

Additionally, Yuniarto explained that Indonesia currently holds the world’s second-largest geothermal potential, after the United States.

Geothermal energy, he added, has the potential to become an environmentally friendly and stable energy source that can serve as a sustainable power source in the future.

PGE becomes a strategic business player

“As a leader in the geothermal sector, PGE will continue to strive to develop Indonesia’s geothermal potential. And so, the collaboration with various parties is crucial,” Yuniarto added.

Regarding the oversubscription phenomenon of up to 8.25 times the offering for PGE’s recent green bond issuance, Yuniarto regarded this as a positive signal to involve even more stakeholders.

With the increasing global awareness of harnessing green energy, he emphasized that PGE has become one of Indonesia’s strategic business players.

“Our presence in Japan is crucial for exploring and identifying future business development opportunities for PGE by involving global business actors who are highly aware of green energy and renewable energy,” he stated.
