Shipping company PT Pelayaran Nelly Dwi Putri Tbk (NELY) has allocated around IDR200 billion of investments in 2022 to raise the number of its fleet and looks for opportunity in renewable energy sector.

The company – which specializes in shipping services that include tugboats and barges, ship repair and construction services as well as management services – is providing logistical and transportation since 1977 as one of the oldest shipping companies in Indonesia.

President Director Husni Heron said the total investment for the acquirement of additional ships was around IDR200 billion. This investment includes 5 tugboats and 5 barges. He added that the company would give high-quality services for barges and tugboats to facilitate the transport of commodity products nationwide. The procurement was to anticipate the increase in economic growth and the company will be able to increase its productivity in 2022 with the available resources.

Heron said the company was maximizing the income from dividends from each share in the long run to strengthen the business by procuring several new ships to make its fleet size to 50 by 2028.

Currently, the company has 26 tugboats and 22 barges, which size ranges from 270 feet to 300 feet. The company’s fleet is facilitating the transportation of commodities such as coal, split stones, sand and others. On the other hand, the company is also focusing on consulting and dockyards.

Heron also said the company is focusing on the efficiency of reducing the transport of dangerous chemical products.

Instead, he added, the company was interested in the renewable and sustainable energy sector. “We are targeting the energy sector so they can involve in sustainable energy in an effort to be environmentally friendly during shipping,” he stated.

All vendors, suppliers and potential partners are welcome to participate in the company’s existing projects. On the other hand, Heron said currently the company has no partners. Ideally, it is preferable to have a long term contract with mining or the wood industry because it is their main interest, he added.
