The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has assured that the development of electricity infrastructure in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) is progressing smoothly according to plan.

Jisman P. Hutajulu, Director-General of Electricity at ESDM, says that electricity infrastructure is crucial to support IKN, emphasizing the importance of environmentally friendly electricity supply based on renewable energy.

Jisman suggests that detailed preparation of electricity infrastructure from upstream to downstream is necessary to accommodate mitigation of risks that may arise. He expects that any technical and standardization issues related to electricity can be resolved together between State electricity company PT PLN and relevant ministries/agencies.

“I hope there will be more specific reports to the Minister of ESDM so that doubts or oversight regarding infrastructure development can proceed smoothly,” he said as quoted from ESDM website on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

PLN’s Director of Distribution, Adi Priyanto, said the company will specifically report on the current conditions and electricity projections until the end of 2024 and beyond as directed.

He also said that PLN had made necessary preparation to ensure electricity supply for the commemoration of the Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2024 that will be held in IKN and presided over by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
