MIND ID, Freeport and Antam will form a consortium to assist the development of Papua through impactful actions helping the government of Indonesia.

Helping development in Papua can be done through investment, job creation, and sustainable development that can have a long-term positive impact on the local community.

Masykuri Abdillah, Special Staff to the Deputy President, said that through strong collaboration between the government and the private sector, development in Papua can be expected to be accelerated effectively for the welfare of the Papuan people.

“The acceleration of development is carried out by involving religious leaders in Papua, especially church leaders,” he said, on August 28, 2023.

For this reason, governance coordination will be carried out involving companies in Papua so that accelerated development in Papua can be realized. This collaboration between the government and the private sector is due to the fact that the APBN cannot be sufficient if there are urgent programs to be carried out.

Companies in Papua currently include MIND ID, Freeport Indonesia, and ANTAM.

Long-time practice of helping the locals

Claus Oscar Ronald Wamafma, Director-Executive Vice President, Sustainable Development & Comrels of PT Freeport Indonesia said, Freeport has long been helping the people of Papua such as basic needs, health, education, economy, infrastructure and institutional strengthening.

Meanwhile, Binahidra Logiardi, Vice President of Environment & Social Performance at MIND ID, said that his corporate social responsibility actually only focuses on the surrounding area. However, MIND ID is determined to help the Papuan people in other areas of Papua.

In addition, Koko Susetio, Human Capital, CSR & Finance Vice President of ANTAM said, ANTAM will continue to contribute to the development of Papua through its CSR program.

Masykuri underlined that the company’s involvement in contributing in Papua to accelerate development in Papua is significant.

Meanwhile, the war between religious and community leaders is also very meaningful, especially in distributing the company’s CSR program to all corners of Papua.

“I received a proposal from meeting participants to form a consortium of companies in Papua to contribute to accelerating Papua’s development,” he said.
