President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to meet with the President of the United States, Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, to discuss strategic issues in the field of defense, economic cooperation, regional security, and the management of global issues of common interest.

This visit marks an important step in Indonesian diplomacy with the United States, where various strategic issues are scheduled to be discussed with US President Joe Biden. The Indonesian president is alsoexpected to meet Joe Biden’s successor, Donald Trump, in his U.S. visit.

Prabowo and his entourage arrived at Andrews Military Base, Washington DC, on Sunday, November 11, 2024, at around 4 pm local time.

The visit to Washington is a continuation of President Prabowo’s diplomatic trip to Beijing, China, where he previously met with a number of top Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Chairman of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji. It is anticipated as part of the measures to balance relations with the world’s two biggest economies.

The meeting in Beijing emphasized Indonesia’s position in strengthening bilateral relations with major countries, both in the fields of economy, politics, and defense. Xi and Prabowo presided over the signings of several documents and memorandums of understanding between their governments.

Prabowo’s visit to Washington DC is an important step in strengthening Indonesia’s diplomatic relations with the US, especially in facing increasingly complex regional challenges and the need for economic stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region.

This meeting is also expected to produce concrete steps in dealing with various global issues, from climate change to shared economic and security challenges.

President Prabowo is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Rosan P. Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
