Prabowo-Albanese discuss efforts to increase Indonesia-Australia strategic cooperation

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Lima, Peru on Thursday, November 14, 2024, discussing efforts to strengthen bilateral diplomatic relations and cooperation in various strategic sectors.

The two State leaders met in the Peruvian capital on the sidelines of the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Summit.

In the meeting, Prime Minister Albanese appreciated President Prabowo’s global geopolitic measures subsequently visiting China and the U.S.

He expressed hope that the relationship and cooperation between Indonesia and Australia will be stronger, particularly in agriculture, education and health sectors.

“I would like to see more cooperation between our two countries. I hope this relationship will become stronger in the future,” Albanese said as quoted in a statement on Friday, November 15, 2024.

President Prabowo reiterated strong friendship between Indonesia and Australia, emphasizing his commitment to continuously increase cooperation with Australia in various sectors.

“We want to strengthen cooperation in various sectors, including Australian participation in Indonesian economic development,” he said.

He expressed his appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between the two countries, concurrently inviting Australia to establish good relationship and cooperation with other countries.

“Overall, I think we have managed our bilateral relationship very well. And I want to improve all relations with neighboring countries around us,” President Prabowo said.
