PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ), an upstream subholding of State energy company PT Pertamina, has begun the construction of the OOA Platform, part of the OO-OX Field development project off the Java Sea, marked by the cutting of the offshore platform plate in Bintan, Riau Islands, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

The construction was carried out by PT Meindo Elang Indah, PHE ONWJ’s partner, with a scope covering 200 metric tons of jacket structure (platform foundation) and 500 metric tons of the platform’s topside.

PHE ONWJ General Manager, Muzwir Wiratama, emphasized safety and quality as top priorities in this project.

“We are determined to completing the project on schedule with high quality standards, reliability, and prioritizing work safety,” Muzwir said as quoted in astatement on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The development of the OO-OX Field aims to increase oil and gas production off the Northern Java coast. This project is projected to produce an additional 2,996 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 21.26 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day (MMSCFD).

In the first semester of 2024, PHE ONWJ reported to have produced 54.5 thousand barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 350.2 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD). This achievement is the combined performance of three upstream oil and gas subsidiaries under the Java Region: PHE ONWJ, PHE OSES, and Pertamina EP West Java.

In addition to the OOA Platform construction, this project includes the development of additional facilities at the Balongan Onshore Processing Facility (OPF), to accelerate the storage and processing of production. After construction is completed, the sail-away (stage or transportation) of the OOA Platform to the Java Sea is scheduled to take place in June 2025.

This construction stage was attended by various stakeholders, including executives of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas), PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) as the Upstream Subholding, Pertamina Subholding Upstream Regional Java, Head of the Bintan Free Trade Zone Authority, and representatives of the local administration.
