Publicly listed food giant PT Mayora Indah exported US$1 million (Rp15. 8 billion) worth of snacks to 15 countries, including Palestine, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Mayora’s CEO, Andre Sukendra Atmadja, noted that while the value of products shipped to Palestine was not specifically tracked, popular items sent include wafers, chocolates, and biscuits.

“This is our largest shipment to Palestine, and sales to Palestine have continued to grow over the past year,” Andre said while addressing the export of snacks at the company’s factory on Tuesday.

He cited that the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel briefly halted sales to Palestine. However, demand for packaged food products, such as instant coffee and biscuits, quickly resumed, as these items are highly needed by people in the region.

Although he did not have details on the shipping route, Andre believes the container will likely stop in Dubai, UAE, before reaching Palestine.

“Despite the unstable conditions in Palestine, trade continues, and consumers there still rely on these products. Our distributor partner in Palestine has managed to maintain transactions and ensure our products reach the shelves,” he said.

Currently, Mayora exports to 103 countries and aims to expand to 115 countries by the end of the year, covering nearly 60 percent of the global market. The company has so far shipped over 400,000 containers of snacks globally.

Andre is targeting a 15 percent increase in export value this year, surpassing last year’s export growth of 12 percent. Export sales contribute about 48 percent of Mayora’s total revenue.

Andre reported that Mayora’s annual revenue averages around Rp50 trillion, making the company one of Indonesia’s largest exporters of homegrown brands.
