Jokowi inaugurates repair of regional roads in Gorontalo

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated on Monday, April 22, 2024, the repair works of regional roads in Gorontalo Province, with a total cost of up to Rp161 billion (US$11.23 million).

The president highlighted that the repair works of regional roads in Gorontalo Province is part of efforts to enhance connectivity and productivity in the region. He emphasized the importance of road infrastructure in supporting local products distribution.

“If there is coconut production here, if there is corn production, without roads, where will they be taken? Roads are essential for increasing productivity in a region,”  Jokowi said during the inauguration event in Dulupi District, Boalemo Regency, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday, April 22, 2024.

For this year, the president said, the Gorontalo Province has received a budget of Rp161 billion allocated for the construction of five road sections totaling 46 kilometers in length. Jokowi mentioned that these roads traverse three regencies, namely Boalemo, Gorontalo, and North Gorontalo Regencies.

President Jokowi said that the government had allocated Rp15 trillion for the improvement of regional roads in 2024. In 2023, the government allocated up to Rp14.6 trillion for road repairs in various regions throughout the year, including Rp1.36 trillion that was allocated for the repair of 40 road sections in Central Java.
