Indonesia Business Post holds journalism workshop on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)

Bogor, January 18, 2024 – Indonesia Business Post held a journalism workshop themed “Understanding Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)” on Saturday, January 18, 2025 and Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Swiss-Belhotel Bogor. This event aims to improve journalists’ understanding of CCS technology, which is an important part of Indonesia’s strategy to achieve the Net Zero Emissions target by 2060 or sooner.

This activity was attended by 30 participants who are professional journalists, especially those who usually cover, write and report on energy issues. Several keynote speakers from the government and academics such as Farah Heliantina, Assistant Deputy for Energy Transition at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy; Dr. Firera, Vice President for Business Support and Lead of Carbon, SKK Migas; Mamik Cahyono from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bobby Permanahadi from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of ESDM; and Dr. Mohammad Rachmat Sule from the Bandung Institute of Technology.

The-two training will last for two days, covering a range of topics including the basics of CCS technology, the impact of the technology on the environment, the implementation challenges in Indonesia, and the regulatory framework that supports CCS projects.

“With this training, we hope that Indonesian journalists can report on CCS topics more accurately and in-depth, so that they can support public awareness and related policies,” said Annelis Putri, President Director of Indonesia Business Post Media Group, on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in Bogor.

This training is in line with Presidential Regulation Number 14 of 2024 which stipulates guidelines for the implementation of CCS technology in Indonesia. Journalists who participate in this training are expected to become effective communicators in conveying the benefits and challenges of CCS to the wider community.
