The YouTube channel of the House of Representatives (DPR), located at @DPRRIOfficial, has been compromised. As of Wednesday morning, September 6th, the DPR RI YouTube channel was hacked and used to livestream online gambling activities. Secretary-General of DPR RI, Indra Iskandar, confirmed this incident.

“For the time being, it appears that the social media account of the DPR’s YouTube channel has been ‘hacked,’ with someone else gaining access and posting online gambling videos,” stated Indra in his announcement on Wednesday, September 6th.

Indra mentioned that they have taken several steps to mitigate the negative impacts. One of these measures is contacting Google Indonesia to recover the account.

“Google has already forwarded the issue to their central team for account recovery so that the DPR can regain access to the account,” said Indra.

Additionally, Indra explained that the internal technicians at the Secretariat General of DPR have been working on manual online recovery from Google’s system. On Wednesday morning, September 6th, it was observed that not only were they broadcasting online gambling activities on the DPR RI YouTube channel, but the profile picture was also changed to a character image with the text “Slot Baris.”

As of the time of writing this article, the DPR RI YouTube channel has been deactivated and currently inaccessible.

The official account last uploaded content related to the work meeting of Commission VI with the Ministry of Trade. Furthermore, there were also student opinions on the internship activities taking place at the DPR.
