Chairman of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, has comnfirmed that the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program for groups of Indonesian people in need will begin on January 2, 2025.

Speaking to the media at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the newly appointed chairman of the National Nutrition Agency said that the implementation of President-elect Prabowo Subianto’s Free Nutritious Meal program would begin after his agency obtained the Budget Implementation List (DIPA) in December 2024.

“It will be implemented as soon as possible. The target is that if everything goes well, then we will get the DIPA in December and on January 2, 2025, the Free Nutritious Meal Program will be implemented,” Dadan said.

President Joko Widodo, according to Dadan, has wanted that the program recipients should not only be limited to school children, but also have an impact for a broader culture of healthy living.

“He [President Joko Widodo] wants the national nutrition agency to not only carry out the free nutritious meal program for school children, but more broadly than that, promote the culture of healthy living,” he said.

He cited the nutritious moringa leaves, which will be introduced to children as part of the efforts to increase their nutritional knowledge.

In addition, the program will be implemented through service units in each region of the country, with budget details to be further conveyed by the President.

“This is a national agency, there will be service units in each region,” he said
