Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce yet to respond to appointment as campaign team leader

The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Arsjad Rasjid, has stated that he has not yet responded to the appointment by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) to lead the National Campaign Team for Ganjar Pranowo as a Presidential Candidate for 2024.

Arsjad mentioned that he still requires time to provide an official statement and admitted that he received this news while reading it online on Monday, September 4, 2023.

“To be honest, I was also surprised and only heard about my appointment as the National Campaign Chairman through online media on Monday, September 4,” he said in a written statement to on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Arsjad expressed his deep gratitude for the trust placed in him to undertake this responsibility. “This is a great honor for me,” he stated.

However, Arsjad mentioned that he needs time to consult with his family and stakeholders in his company. Additionally, he seeks the approval of Kadin Indonesia before providing an official response.

“I want to ensure that my decision is supported by those I love, so that I can give my best to this task,” he remarked.

Arsjad Rasjid previously served as the President Director of PT Indika Energy Tbk. He was also part of the CEO Group of PT Indika Energy Tbk from 2005 to 2013.

Within the same company, Rasjid later held the position of Vice President Director/Group CEO from 2013 to 2016. Five years later, Rasjid was elected as the Chairman of Kadin for the 2021-2026 period.

In 2023, Rasjid was also entrusted with the roles of Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Indonesian Archery Association (PB Perpani) for the 2023-2027 period.
