Minister of Investment/BKPM Head, Bahlil Lahadalia, has provided update on the progress of revoking mining business licenses (IUP) carried out by the Task Force for Land Use Arrangement and Investment Arrangement.
Bahlil said that the revocation of 2,053 IUPs out of the total 2,078 proposed IUPs has been completed entirely. These revoked IUPs will be distributed to community groups, SMEs, and cooperatives. The distribution is still pending the completion of the revision of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 70/2023 on Land Allocation for Investment Arrangement.
“The revocation process is now completed, while redistribution of land awaits Presidential Regulation No. 70,” Bahlil told a press conference at the Ministry of Investment on Monday, March 18, 2024.
As for large-scale IUP distribution, Bahlil stated that it would be conducted through a tender process as regulated by the law. Bahlil emphasized that in the process of revoking IUPs, the inventory of land to be revoked is based on recommendations from relevant technical ministries, namely the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
The total proposed IUPs for revocation reached 2,078. Out of this number, only 2,053 IUPs were revoked, while the rest couldn’t be processed as they were in the Aceh region, which has special autonomy, and some others were deemed not meeting the criteria for revocation. Additionally, out of the revoked IUPs, 569 were reinstated after the IUP holders underwent re-verification.
