Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono, has emphasized the importance of implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cyber technology in strengthening the country’s air defense.

Addressing the opening the 2024 Unit Commander Roll Call (AKS) at the Indonesian Air Force Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta on Wednesday, December 12, 2024, Tonny said AI will help improve cyber security through early detection of attacks, analysis of threat patterns, mapping of vulnerable organizational cultures, as well as anticipating the increasingly complex challenges of the digital era.

“This technology is an important tool in improving the operational readiness of the Indonesian Air Force in facing cyber threats in the future,” the Air Force Chief said.

Carrying the theme “Strengthening Cyber and Artificial Intelligence-Based Air Defense Posture to Support the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045”, AKS 2024 was attended by unit commanders within the Indonesian Air Force. This theme is in line with the efforts to modernize the Indonesian Air Force through the integration of cutting-edge technology in air defense.

Tonny added that strengthening defense based on cyber and AI technology is a long-term investment that is expected to make a significant contribution to realizing the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

“Through this innovation, the Indonesian Air Force will be increasingly ready to face the challenges of the digital era and be able to support national development in a sustainable manner,” he concluded.

A number of speakers were present in the Air Force’s leadership meeting, including Neuroparenting Skill practitioner Aisah Dahlan, Head of Technology Transfer and Offset at the Indonesian Defense Industrial Policy Committee (KKIP) Yono Reksoprodjo, and Steering Committee of the Indonesian Center for Young Scientists (CYS) Hokky Situngkir.

The AKS 2024 activity is part of the Indonesian Air Force’s commitment to continue to adapt and develop according to the needs of the times, ensuring that Indonesia’s air security and sovereignty are maintained amidst increasingly complex global dynamics.
