President Prabowo Subianto met with United Kingdom Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner in a luncheon on Thursday, November 21, 2024, discussing potential cooperation for the implementation of Indonesia’s free nutritious meals program.
“We discussed several issues with Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. I used the occasion to explain our plan to run the free nutritious meals program for our children. They are impressed and they are seeking the mechanism and the form to help us,” Prabowo said as quoted in a statement on Friday, November 22, 2024.
The event, which was held at the Lancaster House in London, was part of a series of President Prabowo’s visit agenda to the UK to strengthen the two countries’ bilateral relations.
Prabowo said the discussion reflected the commitment of the two countries to increase cooperation in various sectors, such as social welfare and global issues management, including climate change.
Accompanying President Prabowo at the luncheon were Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Foreign Affairs and Defense Commission Budi Djiwandono.
