The Indonesian Air Force is joining the President Prabowo Subianto administration’s free nutritious meal program, participating since the provision of land and infrastructure, up to preparation and delivery of the nutritious meals to students.
The Air Force’s preparedness to support the nutritious meal program was put on display before the Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Chief Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, during a presentation by Assistant to the Air Force Chief for Aerospace Potential, Air Vice Marshal Andi Wijaya, at the Indonesian Air Force Headquartersin Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday, November 18, 2024.
“This program is expected to serve 2.811 million students as recipients. This program is in line with the government’s vision to improve the nutritional quality of Indonesia’s young generation in a sustainable manner,” Air Marshal Andi Wijaya said in his presentation.
In supporting this program, the Indonesian Air Force will optimize the role of its ranks as temporary service units, while the land and facilities owned by the Indonesian Air Force will be utilized as supporting infrastructure.
The temporary service units are targeted to start operation on January 2, 2025, awaiting the completion of the construction of permanent units by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
Cross-sector collaboration
The Indonesian Air Force does not work alone in this program as it involves cross-sector synergy with various parties, including the Indonesian Army, the Indonesian Navy, the National Police, local governments, and other strategic partners.
Spokesman of the Indonesian Air Force, Air Commodore Ardi Syahri, said the Air Force will provide full support to ensure the success of the program.
“Collaboration and commitment from various parties will be the key to the success of the program,” he cited.
The Free Nutritious Meal Program is intended to be one of the real solutions in overcoming nutritional problems in Indonesia, while simultaneously improving the quality of life of the nation’s next generation.
