Garment company PT Golden Flower (POLU) is now expanding its business to the health sector, manufacturing aesthetic and slimming products as well as operating  wellness clinics, aimed at strengthening health services in Indonesia and encouraging domestic medical tourism.

Founder of PT Golden Flower, Po Sun Kok, said that growth in global medical tourism market is a strategic opportunity for Indonesia, citing that significant amount of money up to Rp180 trillion (US$ 11,4 billion) goesoverseas annually as many Indonesians opt to seek treatment abroad driven by limited infrastructure and medical specialists at home.

“We are determined to overcome this gap by providing international standard medical facilities in the country,” Po Sun Kok told the company’s public expose session held in Jakarta on November 13, 2024.

CEO of PT Oracle Medika Indonesia, Diana Jo, said that the company’s move to enter the healthcare sector is aimed at meeting the need for quality health services ofthe Indonesian people, while also positioning Indonesia as a leading destination for medical tourism.

“By collaborating with Oracle Dermatology and improving service standards, we are optimistic that we can reduce dependence on foreign medical services and boost the national economy,” Diana said.

International collaboration

PT Golden Flower collaborates with Oracle Dermatology of South Korea to adopt international standards in the operation of its clinics and health facilities.

This collaboration involves training and certification for Indonesian medical personnel, which includes the latest procedures and technologies in aesthetic and wellness services. The company is also developing hospitals to expand access to high-standard medical services.

“In this expansion, we are not only strengthening our business, but also contributing to improving the quality of national health,” Diana added.

She said further that the development of the health sector is in line with the government’s vision in strengthening collaboration between the health and tourism sectors, which is expected to reduce dependence on foreign medical services and create economic value through medical tourism.

Diana said that the company plans to open 100 clinic branches in the country’s major cities, such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, and Makassar.

These clinics will provide aesthetic and health care services, while Oracle Dermatology Korea will send doctors to provide training and certification for Indonesian medical personnel to be on par with international standards.

Despite expanding into the health sector, PT Golden Flower maintains its focus on garment industry as its main business.

Expansion into the health sector through PT Oracle Medika Indonesia is considered a strategic step to create synergy between the two sectors, provide added value to the community, and meet growing market demand.

“This step also shows our commitment to play an active role in improving the health ecosystem in Indonesia and opening up new potential for economic growth in the medical sector,” she concluded.
