Prabowo meets with Russian Ambassador, discusses bilateral and global affairs

Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov at the Indonesian Defense Ministry in Jakarta on Monday September 9, 2024, discussing measures to strengthen Indonesia-Russia cooperation, anticipate security challenges and maintain global stability.

“Thank you and appreciation to HE Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov for taking the time to make a courtesy call with me as Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia,”Prabowo said in a statement as quoted on Tuesday September 10, 2024.

On this occasion, Defense Minister Prabowo also congratulated Ambassador Tolchenov as the new Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Indonesia.

“I look forward to further deepening our defense cooperation. Together, we can address common security challenges and contribute to global peace and prosperity,” Prabowo said.

Accompanying Prabowo in this meeting were senior officials at the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.
